YOGA

‘Yogas citta vritti nirodha’

‘Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind.’

Patanjali, Yoga Sutra 1.2

WHAT IS YOGA?

The cessation of the fluctuations of the mind.

A quietening of the mental chitchat.

The Sanskrit noun yoga योग is derived from the root yuj युज् which means to attach, join, harness, yoke

So, yoga can actually be defined as a state of union. A feeling of oneness and inner peace.

This is why we are really practicing asana आसन (postures) and pranayama प्राणायाम (breath regulation)…

To feel at one.

MY ASANA CLASSES

I’ve given you a little taste of the yoga philosophy that I like to weave into all my yoga teaching. Even my kick-ass vinyasa classes that get you sweating.

I have trained and practiced over the last 12 years originally in the ashtanga tradition and later jivamukti, budokon, rocket, dharma and other modern vinyasa adaptations. My first 200hr teacher training was in 2014 in Dharamsala India, Ashtanga Vinyasa with Sampoorna Yoga… I was hooked ever since. I returned to Sampoorna for my 300hr advanced vinyasa YTT in January 2025.

My modern master teachers include Aram Raffy, Emi Tull, Stewart Gilchrist, Marcus Veda, Alan Ellman, and many other wonderful teachers at Indaba, Triyoga and Mission E1, whom I was blessed to practice with while living in London.

Today I love to teach my own style of vinyasa, practiced to curated music, which focuses on:

  • Integrating intention into the practice

  • Attuning to the current state of the body

  • Deepening intuitively into areas of tension or holding

  • Building more dynamic movement and flowing sequences

  • Peak postures for opening, balancing and strengthening

  • Slowing and sinking into deeper postures and longer holds on the floor

  • Balancing of forwards folds, backbends and twists

  • Deep savasana (lying stillness for integration)

  • Closing meditation and sounding.

I teach what I love to practice, which involves meditatively attuning to the breath, and openly inquiring deeper into the tissues of the body, listening to and responding to where I am feeling tensions, and working with postures and movements which help create more space, release, empowerment, and balance.

My own movement practice and teaching is influenced also by my explorations of dance, intuitive movement, somatic enquiry, de-armouring, qi-gong, tai chi, trauma release exercises, and partner movement.

I like teaching open level classes, including variations and adaptions of postures, sequences and adjustments to my students.

SOUND JOURNEYS

Over the past few years I became fascinated by the science of sound, and the increasing evidence showing us about the profound benefits of sound for supporting nervous system regulation and healing.

In light of this and my love of singing and playing instruments… I decided to study and train further in sound therapy.

I love to offer guided meditation and sound journeys. I work primarily with my voice, crystal bowls, a shamanic drum, guitar, percussion and tuning forks.

I am available for private and group bookings in the UK over summer 2026, and open to collaboration with other therapists, facilitators and musicians.
